Obituary for Robert Ernest Plant

Plant, Robert Ernest ( Bob )
January 5, 1934 – February 13, 2017
The bow and violin has been laid to rest after the final note in the life of Robert Ernest Plant was played on the evening of Monday February 13, 2017. The beautiful song of Bob was started by William Ernest Plant and Wilma Gladys Bowen (McLean) in January 1934, and five years later began to enjoy with his sister Myrna Gayle who passed away 2 days before Bob. During the song, Bob added seven very special verses which belonged to Sharon (Bob) Gillies, Kirk (Sandi) Plant, Terry (Michele) Plant, Patti Plant, and Cheryl (Bruce) Burk. Bob was very fortunate to enjoy the last 12 years with Yvonne and her two daughters Crystal (Jim) and Debbie. Bob's wife of 50 years, Ruby decided to sit in the crowd and the music with their two sons, Michael and Steven, brother in law, Doug, daughter in law, Joan, and granddaughter Michelle. During Bob's 83 years, he enjoyed many different jobs which included working on the railway, working at A. V. Row, delivery man, insurance salesman but then found his love on the OPP. When Bob wasn't making music, or coaching sports, he was enjoying his woodworking which he perfected along with his love of art which can be seen in many locations. The family would appreciate any donations be made to the Heart and Stroke, Alzheimer's Society or Cancer Research. His family could not be any more thankful for the love and support given to him by his special friends Trevor and Bob. Bob was so well cared for by Dr. Dave, the staff of the North Shore Health Network, his caregivers, his coffee partners, Alex and Walter and his own personal breakfast club not to mention his relationship with his band, Jukebox. Please join the family at the visitation on Friday evening from 7-9 at Menard Funeral Home, Blind River and the celebration of his life on Saturday February 18, 2017 at 11 am which will be lead by Rev. Paul Stemp and Rev. Roberta Wilson-Garrett at the St. Andrews United Church in Blind River. Bob's 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren will hopefully carry on his love of music and his zest for life. Members of the Masonic Order are requested to assemble at the Menard Funeral Home on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 6:45 for a memorial service for their late Brother Robert Plant
