Meawasige, John Edward (Jack)
Jack left through the western door into the spirit world on Sunday, September 23, 2018 while at Health Sciences North in Sudbury, ON at the age of 65.
Predeceased by his parents Arnelda and Michael Jacobs Sr. and brother Robert Jacobs. Survived by his beloved wife Caroline, his beautiful children Marty Meawasige, Rosalind Johnston (John) and Wilma-Lee Johnston, and his precious grandchildren Michael, Joseph, Kevin, Lee, Christopher, Lucas, Nolan, Lennox, Holly, Rheanne, Brynn, Lila and Sasha and great grandchildren Darian, Diamond, Silver and Kiinai. Jack leaves behind his brothers and sisters Harvey, Janice, Gail, Grant, Mick, Brenda, Randy, Greg and Barry. Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Jack loved hockey, baseball, golf, fishing and basket making. He was a good helper in many ways to his family, friends and community. He cherished every minute that he spent with his grandchildren, teaching them valuable life skills. He could fix almost anything and willingly passed this knowledge on to those who needed these teachings. He was raised in a loving and nurturing family and was close to his siblings. He lived his life according to the Seven Grandfather Teachings.
Family and friends invite you to join them for a traditional celebration of Jack’s life at the Serpent River First Nation Band Hall starting at 2pm on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 until the time of funeral mass. Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Highway Church in Cutler at 11am on Friday, September 28, 2018 with Peter Johnston officiating. Burial at the Serpent River First Nation Cemetery with a Traditional Feast to follow.
