July 20, 1924 – October 27, 2022
With heavy hearts the family of Blanche Walker announces her passing on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at SAH in her 99th year. Beloved wife of the late Gerald. Dearest mother of Brenda Sharpe (late Leonard), Ron (Giuliana), the late Wayne (Kim) and the late Kevin (Yolanda). Loving grandmother of Robert Sharpe (Terri), Christina Seabrook (Craig), Debbie St. Louis (Jeff), Amanda Ayotte (Denis), Ashley Young (Spencer), Steven Walker, Daniel Walker and Tyler Walker (Tiffany). Great great grandmother of many. Survived by her sister Norma Crockford (late Len) and brother Ray Goodmurphy (Jeannine). Predeceased by her parents Harry and Annie Goodmurphy and siblings Lyla Walker (late Lloyd), Doris Crockford (late Earl), Lawrence Goodmurphy (late Norma, late Barb) and Glenna Crockford (late Ross). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Blanche was born and raised on Cockburn Island then moved to Dayton with her family. Upon meeting her soul mate, Gerry they moved to Sault Ste. Marie where they raised their family. Blanche was a long-time member of Emmanuel United Church in Sault Ste. Marie and upon moving to Thessalon became a member of Zion United Church. She was very active in all church functions.
Blanche cherished time with her grandchildren and was known for her special breakfasts at the lake.
Fiercely independent, Blanche lived life to the fullest right up until her days at Light Haven Christian Home in Bruce Mines.
Family came first. She was a giving and helpful person who cared about others all through her life.
The family gives a special thanks to the staff at Light Haven Christian Home and the staff in ICU at SAH for their compassionate care and kindness.
Donations to Emmanuel United Church in Sault Ste. Marie, Zion United Church in Thessalon, ALS Society of Canada or Muscular Dystrophy of Canada.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Beggs Funeral Home, 175 Main St., Thessalon on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 between 7pm and 9pm. Interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery on November 2, 2022 beginning at 2pm with Brian Mundell officiating. Family asks that you join them after burial at the Beggs Funeral Home for refreshments and a light lunch.
