Gervais, Donat Alcide “Don the Barber”

Passed away on July 23, 2018 at the age of 80 after a brave but short battle with cancer at the Thessalon Hospital. Also survived by brother Aurele Gervais (Diane), sister Laurence Lariviere, brother in laws Robert Martin (Annette) and William Martin (Helene), and sister in law Gertrude Rioux.
Donat was affectionately known as “Don the Barber” serving the community of Hornepayne for over 40 years cutting hair. He continued to cut hair until his hospitalization. He also worked for CN Railroad as a carman and after retirement became a passionate floral gardener. He told many stories of Hornepayne and Iroquois Falls and will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, humour and loud voice. Those who knew him or anyone who came into contact with him are sure to smile.

The family would like to thank the Thessalon Hospital and its staff for their outstanding care and compassion. If desired, the family appreciates donations to North Shore Health Network, Thessalon Site.
