Obituary for Gabriel Zepherin Tremblay
TREMBLAY, Gabriel (Gaby) Zepherin
May 28, 1939 – December 13, 2019
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Gaby, loving husband, father and friend, in his 81st year after a short but courageous fight with brain cancer. Beloved husband and best friend of Nancy (nee Nelson) of 53 years. Loving father of Christine (Joel Goulet), Dianne (Murray Pritchard) and Paul (Marie Howard). Cherished Grandpa to Dylan, Danielle, Cassandra, Joel, Jonathan and Jessie. Forever remembered by his brothers and sisters the late Denise Pineault (the late Gerard), the late Gaston, the late Gerald, the late Georges (Marie-Paule), Pierre (Louise), the late Paulette Marquis (Jean), Gilles (Yolande) and Guy (Louise) as well as brother in law Harry Nelson. Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gaby taught school at Ecole St. Joseph in Blind River for 29 years. He was a proud lifetime member and past president for 19 years at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 189 in Blind River. He also served as a councillor for the Town of Blind River for 24 years and sat on many committees including Algoma District Services Administration Board, Judicial Appointments Advisory Committee, ELNOS and the Blind River Police Board. He was a very proud and dedicated member of every committee he served.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Deverell and Marissa as well as the nursing staff at NSHN-Blind River for their outstanding kindness and compassion during this difficult time. A special thank you to Father Maturin and Brother Jacques from St. Jovite for their visit and the community of The Apostles Of Infinite Love for their prayers and to Gaby’s friends who supported him and visited him at the hospital.
Donations to a charity of your choice are gratefully acknowledged and accepted by the family.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Menard Funeral Home, 72 Lakeside Avenue, Blind River on Friday, December 20, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm and again from 7pm to 9pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. James the Greater Parish, 44 Lakeside Avenue, Blind River on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 12pm with Father Lourdu officiating. Legion Members are asked to assemble at Menard Funeral Home on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 3pm for a Legion Service to honour their late comrade Gaby Tremblay.
