LADEROUTE, Lucille Yvette (née Fortin)
September26,1929 – December 24, 2019
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Lucille at Golden
Birches Terrace in her 91st year. She will be greatly missed by her loving,
attentive and devoted husband, Albert, of 69 years. Lovingly remembered
by her daughter Diane Bray (the late Alain), her granddaughter Nathalie
Létourneau (Bobby) and her grandson Michel Bray. Predeceased by her
grandson Stéphane Bray. Survived by her sister Gloria Packard (Frank) as
well as brothers and sisters in law, numerous nieces, nephews and
countless friends. Predeceased by her brothers Paul Fortin (the late Evelyn)
and Léo Fortin (the late Irène)
Born and raised in the East Algoma region she was a dedicated teacher and
went on to become a principal in many schools for the Conseil scolaire
catholique Rive Nord. She retired from teaching in 1986 but her love for
education saw her working for the Ministry of education as a consultant, a
position which kept her travelling across the province. She also served as
school trustee for the Conseil scolaire du district du Grand Nord
de l’Ontario. She was a recipient of the prestigious Jean Robert-Gauthier
award in 2004 for her contribution to the development of education for
milieu minoritaire. Throughout her career she received numerous
honors/merits for her dedication to the promotion of French language
education as well as the French language culture in her community. She
was co-founder of the French Cultural Center ‘Au Moulin’ and an active
member of the Richelieu Club until her health failed.
She enjoyed reading, music, dancing and travelling. Family was very
important and she always had time for her loved ones. She touched the
hearts and lives of many.
The family wishes to thank Dr Mark Deverell and the staff at Golden Birches
terrace for their compassionate care. They also wish to thank her private
caregivers for all their continued love and devotion.
Donations to the Golden Birches Terrace Family Council or to a charity of
your choosing is gratefully acknowledged by the family.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Menard Funeral Home, 72 Lakeside Avenue,
Blind River on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 7pm to 9pm. Funeral mass will be at
Paroisse Stainte Famille, 45 Woodward Avenue, Blind River, on Saturday, January 4, 2020
beginning at 11am with Father Lourdu officiating.

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Lucille à
la Terrasse des Bouleaux d’Or à l’âge de 90 ans. Elle laisse derrière son mari
Albert, dévoué et attentif depuis 69 ans. Mère bien-aimée de Diane Bray
(feu Alain). Ses petits-enfants Nathalie Létourneau (Bobby) et Michel Bray
se souviendront d’elle avec amour. Prédécédée par son petit-fils Stéphane
Bray. Elle laisse dans le deuil sa sœur Gloria Packard (Frank), ses beaux-
frères, belles-sœurs, plusieurs nièces et neveux et nombreux amis.
Prédécédée par ses frères Paul Fortin (feu Evelyn) et Léo Fortin (feu Irène).
Lucille est née et a grandi dans la région d’Algoma. Elle était une
enseignante dévouée et a fini sa carrière comme directrice dans les écoles
du Conseil scolaire catholique Rive Nord. Elle a pris sa retraite en 1986 mais
son amour pour l’éducation la vue prendre un poste comme consultante
avec le ministère d’éducation un travail qui la apporter à travers la
province. Elle a aussi été membre du Conseil scolaire du
district du Grand Nord de l’Ontario. En 2004 elle fut la récipiendaire du
prestigieux mérite Jean Robert-Gauthier pour sa contribution au
développemnent de l’éducation en milieu minoritaire durant leur carrière.
Au cours de sa carrière elle s’est meritéé plusieurs décorations/honneurs
pour son travail à la promotion de la langue et la culture française dans sa
communauté. Elle était co-fondatrice du centre culturel ‘Au
Moulin’ et un membre actif du club Richelieu jusqu`à ce que sa santé lui
manque.
Elle aimait lire, la musique, danser et voyager. Elle avait sa famille à cœur,
elle était la matriarche. Elle ne manquait jamais une occasion de
rassembler famille et amis. Tous ceux qui ont croisé son chemin ont été
touché, inspiré par sa force de caractère, ses compétences et son
professionalisme.
Alors que tu laisses un vide dans nos cœurs, tu nous as aussi offert une vie
remplie de beaux souvenirs.
La famille recevra parents et amis au salon funéraire Ménard de 19 :00 à
21 :00 vendredi le 3 janvier 2020. Un service funéraire aura lieu le 4 janvier
à 11 :00 à la Paroisse Ste-Famille.
La famille aimerait remercier Dr Mark Deverell ainsi que le personnel à la
Terrasse des Bouleaux d’Or pour leurs soins inconditionnels. Aussi on
aimerait remercier ses préposées privées pour leur dévouement.
