Obituary for Martin Richard "Marty" Lovelace

LOVELACE, Marty
March 1, 1969 – March 15, 2020
With broken hearts we announce the passing of Marty, age 51, with his wife Anna by his side. Will be forever loved and missed by his wife Anna Lovelace (nee Zaiser) of 31 years. Loving father of Sydney Lovelace. Cherished son of Bonnie Scholar (Jake). Fondly remembered by his sister Kelly Boyer (David) and his brother Brent Lovelace (Vicki). Step brother of Tricia Jeffery (Grant), Lisa Ianni-Lucio (Roni) and Jason Scholar (Andrea). Brother in law to Cherie Banting (Rick), Susan Zaiser (Ali), Raymond Zaiser (Lise) and Michael Zaiser (Patti). Tormentor (a.k.a. Uncle Dirtball) to many nieces and nephews.
Marty was a loyal employee at Birchland Plywood for over 30 years. He volunteered countless hours of his time towards minor hockey, but his real passion was his time spent as Chief of the Thessalon Volunteer Fire Department. His service with them spanned over 25 years. Marty was also passionate about hockey, both playing and coaching his daughter Sydney. He organized the Zaiser Family Hockey Team every year. Marty fought a long and hard battle with multiple myeloma cancer for the last 6 months. His strength and determination shone through, not only in his position with the fire department, but with his real fight with this disease.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Sault Area Hospital particularly Dr. Hill and the staff at the cancer clinic and Dr. Berry and Dr. Shafiee and staff at the renal clinic. They also wish to express their gratitude to their family, friends and community for helping them through this battle.
If desired, the family appreciates donations to North Shore Health Network Foundation Thessalon Site or the Sault Area Hospital Cancer Clinic.
Due to Covid-19, the family will be having a private funeral service at this time. There will be a celebration of Marty’s life announced and held at a later date.
