Obituary for Odette Marie Baron (Marin)

BARON, Odette (nee Marin)
May 28, 1944 – August 23, 2022
We are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of Odette, at A.R.C.H, age 78. She is reunited with her beloved husband and best friend of 55 years, Andre, her sons Anthony and Jason, grandson Sammy Jr., granddaughter Lilly as well as her parents Willie and Helena Marin. Proud and loving mother of Marcel (Michelle), Chad (Stepheny), Brigette Graham (Sam), Ron (Nicole) and Chantalle. Treasured Nan of Sydney, Christa, Jacques, Bradley, Anthony, Peighton, Noah, Lora, John, Hope, Cali, Edan, Mya, William, Kylie, and Charlie, and great Nan of Layla, Addy, Liam and baby Liam. Cherished sister of the late Hugette (late Renald), the late Ron (Debbie), Jeannine, the late Jean-Guy (late Darlena), Liette, Andre “Picky” (Lanel), the late Claude, Elaine (late Larry), the late Adrien, Roger, the late Arnold, the late Geiven (Rose), Mike, the late Lisette, Claire (Gary) and Bert (Barb). Sister-in-law of Jean-Louis (Lise) and Claire (late Leo). Best friend of Brien McLean and the late Cathy Gagan. Lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousin, friends and neighbours.
Odette was a mom to 6 and second mom to many. Her door was always open whether you needed a place to stay, a hot meal or just conversation. You could often find her around town catering different events as her cooking was out of this world. Mom spent many years working alongside dad logging in the Thessalon area and Cockburn Island. She worked several years at the Algoma Manor in housekeeping and spent many years as a paramedic. Mom was a woman of many talents. She loved playing guitar and singing. Holidays in our home were some of the best, with amazing food, so much laughter and even food fights that Bert, Claire, Lisette and Elaine would initiate. Odette was crafty. She made clothes for both babies and dolls and created beautiful native bead and leather works of art. She spent endless weekends away at hockey tournaments with her boys. She spent many years curling. We could go on and on about how amazing our mother was, but anyone lucky enough to know her knew the kind and generous person she was.
