Obituary for Otis Hastings Wright

WRIGHT, Otis Hastings
With deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father at the Algoma Manor, Thessalon, Ontario, Canada at age 95. He is reunited with his loving wife of 72 years Edna Mae Wright (nee Yake) and their children Michael and Linda Sue. Loving father of Donald (Mary) of Huntsville, Ontario, Nancy East (Tony Ward) of Thessalon, Ontario, Anthony (Frances) of Milton, Florida and Sandra Dickson (Peter) of Mount Albert, Ontario. Adoring grandfather and great grandfather of many. Lovingly remembered by extended family and friends in both Canada and the U.S.
Otis grew up in Rome, Georgia and served 23 years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He served during WW2, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. It was during this time he met the love of his life Edna. Together they raised their 4 children in various stations during Otis’ naval career. After retirement from the Navy they decided to move to Canada and pursue their dream of owning a farm. They settled in Thessalon where that dream became a reality. Their passion was standard bred racing horses and quarter horses. Their children fondly remember the horses and riding them around Thessalon while growing up.
Otis will be remembered as a kind, gentle and loving person by everyone who knew him and will be sadly missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the NSHN-Thessalon and Algoma Manor for the extraordinary care of their dearly loved father.
If desired, the family appreciates and would be grateful of donations to the NSHN-Thessalon Site in Otis’ honour www.nshnfoundation.care
A private graveside service and burial at Pine Orchard Cemetery in Whitchurch-Stouffville, Ontario will be held at 3pm on Monday, October 5, 2020.
